The Mile Challenge

Two days ahead of TCS World 10K, we announced a novel Mile Challenge for the GeeksOnFeet community who were running the larger TCS World 10K 2024. More than 60 runners registered for the challenge. The challenge, featured two critical mile-long segments designed to test the participants - The Downhill Mile Dash and the Uphill Mile Dash.

  • The Downhill Mile Dash started at the Army canteen traffic signal and continued through till the St. Johns Road. It has 22m of elevation loss.
  • The Uphill Mile Dash, stretched from the Gurdwara to the finish line. It has total of 11m of elevation gain, peaking at 4%-5% grade at certain sections. While the elevation gain is a challenge, the bigger challenge in this dash is the fight against fatigue.

The event’s format integrated data from Strava for real-time tracking and leaderboard updates.

  • Amit Lahekar who is in the age category 30 to 34, topped the leaderboard with an average mile time of 5 minutes and 53 seconds (average of uphill & downhill mile segments).
  • Close behind him was Suneel Kumar Koyi, who excelled in the 40 to 44 age category with average mile time of 5 minutes and 57 seconds.
  • Thomas Bobby Philip from the 55 to 59 age group shine with a time of 6 minutes and 26 seconds.
